About the Team Manager:
Reeves Lippincott is originally from Woodstown, New Jersey.He
was born in 1940. He grew up on the family farm and later attended
Rutgers University. "The first RC model airplane I ever
saw was attempting to be flown in the pasture next to our farm.
l remember it had actual radio tubes sticking up inside the cockpit.
I mean big tubes. It was a Piper Tri- Pacer".
After graduating from Rutgers in 1962, Reeves entered the U S
Army as a Second Lieutenant. On his return to the United States,
after a three-year tour in France, he was assigned to Fort Riley,
KS. After a Vietnam tour Reeves was stationed at Fort Eustis,
VA. There he joined the Southeastern Virginia Radio Control Group
and sort of learned to fly before being sent back to Vietnam
in 1970. "I remember flying in my first pattern contest
in the summer of 1969. I got third place flying a Dave Robelen
design called a Square Shooter in Class A. I was hooked."
Reeves flew pattern in Virginia, Colorado and South Carolina
before being sent to Saudi Arabia in 1976. "I remember flying
a Rhett Miller design the Compensator that I built over there
out in the desert .I was doing loops around a big eagle and never
ruffled his feathers."
Back in the USA again Reeves won the Eastern States Championship
in 1977 and the Eastern States RC Championships in Masters in
1978. Reeves joined the National Society of Radio Controlled
Aerobatics (NSRCA) when it was furst formed. His NSRCA number
is 94. He was stationed in Florida and Pennsylvania before being
transferred to Fort Richardson, Alaska in 1986 as Director of
Logistics. Now a Colonel, Reeves joined the Alaska Radio Control
Society (ARCS). He promoted pattern flying and club competition.
He served in the Persian Gulf War in 1991 and retired from the
Army as a Colonel in 1992. He has been the ARCS Pilot ofthe Year
ninetimes and was the RC State Champion 1995,1996,andl997. Reeves
is a Life Member (L447) of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA)
and is the AMA Associate Vice President for Alaska. Reeves and
caller Cathy Thompson live outside of Wasilla, Alaska on 53 acres.
He has his own flying field.
